The Plight of “Show Animals”

It´s summer time, the kids are out of school, the weather is mostly nice, and parents are looking for some easy and fun entertainment for their family. Fairs are abundant all around the country, there are rides for all ages and shrieks and laughter fill the air.

There are also rides that mean torture and abuse: on the back of ponies, horses, and more exotic, elephants. Some of these animals have been going round in circles for many decades, no matter what kinds of aches and pains they feel. There is Nosey, who has not had a chance to get out of this life long abuse; there is Hope, walking with pain day in an day out. And there are many more. They are kept because people will pay to have their children enjoy a moment of “fun”. Mostly not knowing how many hours of sadness fuel a moment of pleasure for their child.

Some elephants die of exhaustion, some will simply collapse, some will try to run away. All have endured a life of imprisonment.

Please do not ride any animal for fun. Please tell the parents of your children´s friends not to keep this vicious circle of abuse going. If there is no money to be made, there will be no more pain.

Nosey Needs News – Please Help

Here is one animal suffering for years and years, it is time to end this. Please spread the word, speak up, stand up, help:

“We’ve just learned that the suffering elephant Nosey (aka “Tiny”) is appearing at The Great Lakes Medieval Faire in Rock Creek, Ohio, again this year, even after an elephant expert and veterinarian observed Nosey at the fair in 2014 and warned fair owners that Nosey was showing signs of debilitating arthritis.”

Stampedes and Rodeos = Animal Cruelty

It used to be said that horses had fun at a rodeo or a stampede, that this was what they would be doing when in the wild. But nowadays people should know better. Many animals are injured during these spectacles, some die painful deaths.

“Every summer, the issue of animals in the Stampede and other rodeos comes up. The horses that pull chuckwagons sometimes drop dead of heart attacks, are killed or injured, or have to be euthanized, due to collisions or other accidents.”

Please avoid any kind of summer attraction claiming animals were having fun, too. This barely ever is a true statement.

Sharks Need Their Fins. Soups Do Not.

Cutting off the fins of sharks and then throwing the helpless animals back into the water is an extremely horrific way of killing these beings. The more people who speak up against this animal cruelty, the better chances are for a succesful ban on fin trade.

“On Saturday, June 20, Texas became the 10th U.S. state to ban the trade of shark fins. The new law ensures that Texas will no longer participate in the global fin trade that is largely responsible for the decline of sharks around the world.”

Whenever you see shark fin soup on a menu speak up.
