Pesticides Kill

Animal testing remains the method for scientists to allegedly ensure the safety of products used by human beings. We are still a long way from eliminating these standards, but here is some good news towards the goal of an end to testing on animals:

“After discussions with PETA’s scientists, the Canadian government is ending its requirement that dogs be exposed to pesticides in year-long tests. During those tests, beagles were force-fed food laced with pesticides or were made to inhale pesticide fumes for a year, then killed and dissected. At PETA’s urging, the U.S ended this same test in 2007, and the European Union followed suit in 2013.”

A Landmark Moment for Animal Rights

Please share this news. The more people hear about decisions like these the better the chances are that other nations will copy these animal-friendly actions.

Europe decides rabbits are more important than eyeshadow

This is welcome news, long overdue. Let’s hope the US will follow suit and the rest of the world will catch up. I long for the day when ALL animal testing is history.

The European Union is scheduled to ban all animal-tested products next month, but the rest of the world hasn’t followed suit. This is a landmark moment for animal rights’ activists.

It’s common knowledge that much of the cosmetic and personal care industry tests products on animals. Despite advances in technology, animal experiments are still particularly cruel—and surprisingly ineffective in determining a product’s safety. That’s why the European Union recently announced that after years of delays, it’s finally banning the import and sale of all animal-tested products and ingredients, starting March 11.

Good News: NIH Will Stop Torture of Monkeys

Bildschirmfoto 2014-09-11 um 15.20.15

Several petitions concerning the abhorrent abuse of baby monkeys were available all through this year. PeTA had brought to light the continued cruelty towards baby monkeys who were taken away from their mothers for experimentation. These studies had been going on for decades with no new information being found during the last decade.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) have declared an end to these atrocious experiments, this news being confirmed by congressman Brendan Boyle.

PeTA is now discussing with the NIH when and where the monkeys will be released and retired.

You can read more and sign the petition on retiring the monkeys here:

Fighting Hamsters?

Bildschirmfoto 2015-05-08 um 15.29.22

Many have followed last week´s news on the Fight of the Century, millions have watched it. Two people in a boxing ring, being paid millions to fight each other. It is clear that both were in the ring on their own accord.

But when human beings inject animals with drugs to make them aggressive and then forcing them to fight there is no free will involved. These beings are being tortured.

“For nearly two decades, experimenters from the Department of Psychology at Northeastern University in Boston have been injecting hamsters with anabolic-androgenic steroids and other aggression-promoting drugs and then forcing them to fight each other. Since 1996, the experimenters have injected hundreds of animals with steroids, cocaine, and other substances, sometimes drilling into their skulls and injecting the drugs straight into their brains.”

What Do Taxes Have to Do With Animal Abuse?

Bildschirmfoto 2015-04-16 um 09.52.00

Many important projects are funded with taxes: streets and parks, schools and universities, emergency clinics and  … experiments on animals. You can argue that some experiments are necessary to save human lives, but once you learn more about these experiments you will most certainly come to the conclusion that this is not what you want to pay for.

“Just in time for tax week, the White Coat Waste Movement has launched an explosive new exposé from Executive Producer Glenn Beck against the government’s $12 billion+ forced taxpayer-funded animal experimentation budget. And we’re airing it on national cable TV right now!

Follow this link to watch our unprecedented new investigation from Executive Producer Glenn Beck. See what the taxpayer-funded animal abusers don’t want you to know about.

For animal experimenters, tax day is even better than Christmas Day. Every April 15, we’re forced to pay over $12 billion in taxes for painful and worthless government animal experiments on dogs, cats, primates, and other animals.”

A Live Frog Is the Best Frog, also for Learning

Screen Shot 2015-04-12 at 2.40.30 AM

Children and students are curious by nature and that is good. But it is incomprehensible why they must be taught how to kill an animal to learn something about nature and specifically more about animals. How can we believe that compassion for animals could result from cutting an animal apart?

“April is National Frog Month – an important reminder that millions of these amazing animals are taken from the wild each year to be used for biology lessons. Frogs cannot be successfully bred in captivity and must be taken from their natural habitats. Removed from our wetlands, they suffer in transport and embalming. And, dissecting once-living frogs contributes to our ecological imbalance and further compromises nature’s fragile resources. As a keystone species, dissecting frogs contributes to not only their decline but to that of other wildlife populations as well. It exposes students to toxic chemicals and in turn, contaminates our environment as formaldehyde-ridden body parts need to be disposed when the class is done.”

If you know any students who have to dissect frogs please pass this on. If you know any teachers please pass this on. If you know anyone in the school system please pass this on.

Must Beauty and Cosmetics Equal Animal Torture? No!

Screen Shot 2015-04-08 at 3.24.50 AM

More and more countries are rethinking their policies on testing products, whether old or new ones, on animals. This is leading to changes in the law – luckily in favor of the animals. The European Union – all 28 countries – has banned testing on animals for cosmetics. And more are following suit.

“New Zealand just became the first Australasian country to ban cosmetics animal testing. Earlier this week, an amendment to the Animal Welfare Act was passed, reflecting the nation’s desire for humane beauty products.”

Don´t Monkey Around: Help Stop Unnecessary Experiments, Please

photo: change.org

photo: change.org

Most animal friends have by now probably heard of the exceptionally cruel and inhumane experiments planned at the University of Wisconsin. Many have written to show their contempt, horror and shock. There seem to be small cracks in the university´s hard shell of ignorance:

“Your efforts are starting to show signs of success. The university has decided that it will not separate and isolate the baby monkeys from their mothers at birth. I’m sure pressure from you helped them put extra effort to look at ways to reduce the controversy about these baby monkey experiments.

While this change is welcomed, the baby monkeys will still be tormented and killed after the first year of life. The experiment has not taken place! It’s scheduled to begin in June 2015 so now is the time to step up the pressure and be heard.

1) No matter where you live, everyone please contact Chancellor Blank’s office at (608) 262-9946 and ask once again that the university cancel this unethical and wasteful study.”

Do Experiments Get Better with Each Abuse?

Photo: PeTA

Photo: PeTA

Why repeat experiments for decades even though these have been already dissected, researched and studied from every angle possible? Who is behind these inhumane doings? And who pays for them? The only question easily answerable is the last one: tax payers pay for these atrocious doings.

“For decades, an experimenter at the National Institutes of Health named Stephen Suomi has been conducting cruel psychological experiments on baby monkeys. In these experiments, monkeys are bred to be prone to depression and other mental illnesses. Every year, dozens of infant monkeys are torn away from their mothers at birth and isolated in tiny cages. They are then subjected to years of painful and terrifying experiments in order to worsen their symptoms of mental illness and measure the severity of their psychological trauma.

Today, December 16, is Stephen Suomi’s birthday. It hardly seems right that the man responsible for traumatizing baby monkeys starting on the day they’re born should be able to celebrate his own birthday without being reminded of the suffering he causes. We’re asking you to take a few minutes to call Suomi’s office and politely demand that these barbaric experiments be put to an end.”

Please help, reblog, spread the news.
