Elephants Performing – Help This Become a Thing of the Past

Elephant ride and activities Thailand

Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle—a “luxury camp” in Thailand—continues to force elephants to give rides and play polo, despite claiming to give refuge to endangered Asian elephants. Offering these rides sends a dangerous message to tourists and drives demand for an abusive industry that controls animals through violence and domination. Dozens of travel companies have committed to not offering rides, and as a result of the public’s “mood shift” against the use of animals for entertainment, Ringling Bros. circus has shut down after 146 years. It’s well past time that Four Seasons ended rides and all other direct-contact activities with elephants.

Please take a moment to urge Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle to end the use of elephants for rides, polo, and all other exploitative activities.

This is a wonderful example of an animal sanctuary in England. It is run by a dedicated person who also is on of the world’s fastest runners, running on plant based energy.

What´s for Dinner? Horse?

Is it worse to slaughter a horse than a pig or a cow? No, but awareness comes in all different forms, sizes, colors, and issues. If people start thinking about whether or not they want to have horses slaughtered, they hopefully will come up saying no. And this eventually could lead to less deaths of other animals. Stopping horse slaughter is definitely a great step in the right direction.

“Each year, more than 100,000 American horses are horrifically slaughtered for human consumption. Thankfully, just this week, bipartisan legislation known as The Safeguard American Food Exports (SAFE) Act was reintroduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. This vital legislation would end the slaughter of American horses and stop the export of horses for slaughter abroad.

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, star of “The Big Bang Theory,” has joined us in the fight against horse slaughter and is calling for an end to this cruel practice in a new PSA. Please take a moment to watch her PSA»

Then, call Rep. Barbara Comstock at (202) 225-5136 and urge immediate action to end horse slaughter. You can say, ´Please cosponsor the Safeguard American Food Exports Act, H.R. 1942, which would keep horse slaughter plants shuttered in the U.S. and end the export of horses for human consumption.´”

Make Noise for Nosey

Photo: PeTA

This elephant has been mistreated, abused, tortured, and tormented for the most part of his life. It is time to stop this, please help.

“For Nosey the elephant, every step must be excruciating. Week after week, Nosey’s exhibitor Hugo Liebel has forced her to give rides, even though she is likely suffering from arthritis and is clearly in pain. According to a board-certified zoo veterinarian and elephant expert, Nosey’s case is “the worst, most prolonged, documented example of an uncorrected case of suffering and abuse in an elephant I have ever reviewed.”

Is It Fashionable to Mistreat Horses?

Most people crave for technological advancements. Most people want to drive the car with all the new advancements, not crank it up like in the early 20th century. Most people want to use a smart phone, not one hooked up on the wall and connect through an operator. So why do people want to ride in horse-drawn carriages all around the world, especially in big cities like New York City, Paris, London, or Vienna? It’s romantic, is what they say. Romantic to drive through all this traffic, inhaling all the exhaust fumes directly? Having one animal pull you along streets clogged with traffic? What is romantic about seeing this animal being forced to walk on streets not made for their hooves, being pushed around in unhealthy air, in a surrounding that is noisy, sometimes boiling hot, sometimes freezing cold, sometimes soaking wet? No adequate place to rest, to eat, to sleep?

“On the eve of New York Fashion week, designer Victor de Souza plans to debut his collection using a “horse-drawn carriage runway,” in which the horses who work long, grueling hours on the hectic, hot city streets will escort models along Central Park South. We ask you to join us in urging de Souza to change venues and get out of this last-ditch effort to promote the dying horse-drawn carriage industry.”
